Times Education Supplement School Awards 2025
A few months ago, we were shortlisted in the Secondary School of the Year category for the prestigious Times Education Supplement (TES) School Awards 2025. This was a fantastic achievement, as we were one of just eight schools across the UK to be shortlisted. On Friday, some of our team travelled down to London for the awards ceremony and I am delighted to tell you that we came second! We were Highly Commended by the TES judges for our outstanding work with the young people here at Landau. This is an incredible achievement and we are delighted that the Landau community has been recognised on a national level in this way. The TES judges commended us for our commitment to ensuring that all our young people can have access to the very best education, support and enrichment experiences. We are very proud of our Landau community and hope you will share in our pride and joy as we celebrate this amazing achievement.
Sports and Culture Week
The last week of term will be Sports and Culture Week, an idea created by a group of our students a few years ago.
Sports Days for each year group will take place on site and students should attend in their PE kit, with a bottle of water, on the day of their allocated Sports Day. We would also advise that students wear sun cream and a hat, if the weather is warm.
14 July – Year 10 Sports Day
15 July– Year 9 Sports Day
16 July – Year 8 Sports Day and Musa Memorial Netball and Football Tournament
17 July – Year 7 Sports Day
Friday 18 July will be our annual Culture Day. Students can pay £1 to attend school in dress which best represents their cultural heritage or an outfit which best represents them. Money can be paid via the MCAS app or in cash on the day. The money raised from the non-uniform day will go to the Landau Forte Enrichment Fund, which has funded the external visitors and activities for Sports and Culture Week.
There will be lots of special activities taking place on Culture Day including music, art and dance workshops, a Caribbean steel band performance, and our students will create their own exciting dance and music performances. At lunchtime there will be a range of food stalls from which students can purchase food including Caribbean dishes, pizza, pancakes and crepes, Greek street food and kebabs. The Restaurant will serve a full hot brunch menu during breakfast service and at lunchtime the Restaurant will sell sandwich ‘grab bags’ only. The free school meal allowance will be uploaded to students’ accounts from 8.15am on this day, ensuring students can purchase a hot meal at breakfast. We will also be issuing any students eligible for free school meals with a voucher to use at the lunchtime food stalls. The vouchers will be available to collect from reception at lunchtime.
Finally, thank you once again for your continued support this academic year. It is an absolute pleasure to be Principal of this school. If you have any feedback or questions on any issues raised in this letter please do contact me via Miss Walendziewski, [email protected]
Kind regards,
Alison Brannick
