UK Parliament Week Highlights
Landau Forte College proudly took part in UK Parliament Week, an annual celebration designed to deepen students’ understanding of democracy, representation, and how Parliament shapes life in the UK.
Year 7 Elections – Our New LF Parliament MPs
We began the week with a burst of excitement as Year 7 took part in their very own elections on Monday morning. After thoughtful speeches, students cast their votes and successfully elected four new LF Parliament MPs. A huge congratulations to our newly elected representatives, who will now work alongside the existing student parliament to help shape school life and champion student voices.
Gatherings on Democracy and Parliament:
Throughout the week, students across all year groups took part in gatherings focused on the importance of democracy and the role of Parliament in the UK. These sessions explored why voting matters, how laws are made, and the importance of having our voices heard in a democratic society.
Visit from Catherine Atkinson, MP for Derby North
A special highlight of the week was the visit from Catherine Atkinson, the MP for Derby North, who met with our Year 12 MPs. She shared valuable insight into her role as a Member of Parliament, discussing everything from representing local issues to working on national policy. We thank Catherine for her time and hope to work with her again in the future.
