Dear parents/ carers,
Firstly, thank you to our families for your ongoing support so far this term, it is very much appreciated.
We wanted to remind you that we will close for the Easter break on Thursday 2 April at 3.10pm. The school will reopen at 8.20am on Monday 13 April.
Next week we will send all families our Easter edition of the Landau Leader, this is jam packed with articles detailing all the brilliant events that have been taking place at LFCD, including our first ever community Iftar, our continued success in national and regional robotics tournaments, work experience for Year 10 and our recent visit to Barcelona!
We wanted to inform you of the flood defence works that continue to take place close to LFCD, causing disruption and road closures on Pheonix Street and Stuart Street. We have spoken to students who walk this route to and from the Bus Station, asking them to take extra care on their journey. We have also placed extra staff on duty in this area at the end of the day. If your child uses this route, please do ask them to take extra care, especially when crossing the roads.
From April 2026, Department for Education guidance states that schools should ensure they have a clear policy in place to restrict the use of mobile phones during the school day. As you are aware, our policy states that mobile phones should not be seen/ used during the school day. If a student is seen with their mobile phone during the school day this is classed as a red incident, the student’s phone is confiscated, they are placed in our Internal Exclusion Unit and parents are made aware of this via the Class Charts app. We regularly remind students of our expectations regarding mobile phones and we would appreciate your support in reinforcing expectations with your child as well. We are currently reviewing our policy for the start of the new academic year and we will ask for your views on this after the Easter break.
Updated term dates for the academic year 2026/27 can now be found here Academic-Year-2026-2027.pdf on our website. LFCD will be closed on 11 September 2026 to enable all Landau Forte Charitable Trust academy staff to work together for a trust wide training and development day.
I wanted to highlight that the school will be closed for the forthcoming national bank holiday – Monday 4 May – May Day Bank Holiday
