The details below relate to our admissions process for Year 7 students only. If you would like more information on applying for a place for Sixth Form (Year 12) then please see the Application Process page of our Sixth Form section.
Students should normally be aged between 11 and 12 years on the 1 September in the year of entry. Applications for a place at the College MUST be made via the Local Authority in which you live. For most applicants this will be to Derby City Council.
Even though the Academy is an independent organisation, there are no fees to pay.
You can find out more about our admissions procedure and our oversubscription criteria for Year 7 below:

In Year Admissions
Applications for College places ‘In Year’ are for admission during the school year into any year group, other than the normal point of entry i.e. Year 7 and 12 each September.
If you wish to apply for a place at the College you should write directly to the Principal, requesting that your child is admitted to the College. You should be aware that the College has a published admission number of 168. The College is heavily over subscribed in every year group and it is unlikely that a place will be available for your child.
If you are unable to obtain a place for your child you can appeal against the decision. On request, the PA to the Principal will issue you an Admissions Appeal Information Pack. You may also request for your child to be placed on the College’s waiting list.
