First Activities for New Year 12 Students

Once your place in Year 12 at Landau Forte College Derby has been confirmed, please complete the following mandatory tasks before Monday 12  September for each of your selected subjects:

AS/A Level Art and Design

Please complete the activities on the attached document.

AS/A Level Biology

Read a biology popular science book and write a short synopsis to summarise either the whole book OR the most important chapter within it with an argument as to why it is the most important.

AS/A Level Business Studies

Arrive to the first session with a current, interesting, business news article that you can then verbally share with rest of group.

AS/A Level Chemistry

Read the four attached articles from our recommended read, Chemistry Review magazine.  Select the article that interests you the most; print, read, highlight and annotate the key facts and points of interest.

Write a 100 – 150 words summary explaining why it is of particular interest to you. Your summary should be neatly presented, ideally typed, and could include images or quotations from the article.

Hand the annotated article, with your summary stapled to it to your Chemistry tutor in your first session.

A Level Computing

Create a document explaining the basics of one selected computer language eg: Python.
