Autumn 2015
The task used a range of learning habits, such as collaboration, planning and effective
listening. At the start of the day, it felt difficult to collaborate with students who were
new to the College because we didn’t know them. However, by the end of the day we were
all collaborating effectively to produce a presentation pitching our ideas.

We are now required to spend our private study sessions in College, meaning we are effectively
utilising our time to complete extension work and develop our subject knowledge. I hope this
will build good habits that will serve me throughout Post-16 and into the future.
Holly Morgan,Year 12
Coming into the college environment wasn’t scary for me as I had quite a lot of friends here
already, but I was nervous for starting my sessions in terms of the workload. The College is
very easy to get used to and the days are getting better as I’m settling in.

The Apprentice-style task was a good idea, set up to help all
students mix.
The addition of a full college day for Year 12 was introduced to help
support our development as independent learners.
The Induction period was really good as it gave me a chance to
meet new people and get to know them by taking part in team
building activities.
