Update: We have added some last minute donations which now takes our total to £9,034.17. A fantastic achievement.
Children in Need Day at the College was as successful as ever and on the day we managed to raise a fantastic £8,970 £9,034.17 for the BBC appeal. You can find out more about our fundraising efforts for other charaties on our Fundraising page.
The following is a message from Tom Bingham, Chair of the Student Council:
I would first like to thank you all for your support on making this year’s Children in Need a success. Without your continued support, we would not raise, year after year such fantastic amounts for this great cause. The grand total is yet to be officially confirmed, although I am very hopeful of banking a total of over £9,000! – A sum which I’m sure you’ll agree is a fantastic achievement in such a small space of time and will make a real difference to the lives of disadvantaged Children across the UK.
On top of raising a overwhelming amount, the college’s efforts attracted lots of media attention from the likes of the Derby Telegraph and Radio Derby, to an extent which we have not seen before. I have received some great feedback from students and staff alike and I am very proud of all the hard work that went into planning the day. In terms of the prize draw, this will be happening tomorrow (Tuesday) and all winners will be made public. In terms of personal tutors, I have sent you an additional e-mail containing a breakdown of how much was raised through the tutor group stalls.
The Student Council held a review meeting today of the event and aims to create a ‘legacy’ pack of all our work from across the year to pass on to the next council. Going forward, we want to be the foundations of a sustained and strong student representative body.
Kind Regards,
Tom Bingham
