Mental Health and Wellbeing

At Landau Forte College, we are genuinely committed to prioritising the mental health and wellbeing for our students, their parents/carers and our staff. The pandemic has been an anxious and uncertain time for all of us.

We understand the importance of promoting young people’s emotional wellbeing and how this connects to learning. We work hard to develop a culture in which talking about emotions and feelings, mental health and well-being is the norm, where it is acceptable to acknowledge difficulties and ask for help, and where extra support is provided in a coherent and non-stigmatising way.

We know that everyone experiences different life challenges, and that each of us may need additional help to cope with them sometimes. We hope that the resources provided on this page provide some support and help to overcome these challenges.

Landau Forte College Derby wins Gold Award for promoting positive mental health

A message to all students from Ms Brannick, April 2022:

I know that this past year has been incredibly challenging for you all and I want to thank you again for the maturity and resilience you have all shown.

While we want every student to excel academically, it is more important to us that you enjoy your time at Landau. With that in mind, our utmost priority as a school is the emotional wellbeing of our students.

As we approach the build-up to the examination season I know that school life can become more stressful, and I wanted to write and remind you of the options available at school for you to access support for your emotional wellbeing. We have a range of mental health provision available, including counselling, creative therapy, and a range of other agencies who work to support our students in and out of school.

Sometimes life gets tough and it feel difficult to cope. But remember, you are not alone. If you would like to have a conversation with an expert about protecting your mental wellbeing, please speak to your Personal Tutor or Head of Year as a first step. Alternatively, you can email [email protected] for support and to ask any questions that you may have.

We also welcome feedback as a school on how we safeguard our students’ mental health and would appreciate your thoughts on how we can do this better. If you would like to offer feedback on this matter, please do email [email protected] with your thoughts.
