Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Landau Forte College Derby is committed to the principle that every student has individual needs and an entitlement to the full curriculum. We believe that every tutor is a tutor of every child/young person including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities. We are fully inclusive in our provision:
- Social background
- Ability
- Ethnicity
- Religion
- Gender
- Sexuality
We advocate that all students should have access to the best education in order to prepare them for their futures. Therefore we continually endeavour to improve the levels of attainment and progress for all students in order for them to achieve their potential.

Free Meals Allowance
If you are receiving some kind of income support, credit or benefit then your child could be eligible for a free meal allowance worth £2.20 every day. You can register your child for a free meal allowance if you receive any of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190
If you would like to register your child for a free meal allowance please fill in the application form at the online portal link below:
https://apply.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/sims
Even if you do not think you are eligible right now, our new system checks every week that your child is in our school. If your circumstances change and your child does become eligible for additional funding or a free school meal, you will be informed immediately and automatically. You only need to enter the data once and the system will do the rest on a weekly check until your child leaves this school.
The system will also let school know, so we can amend our records accordingly.
Forms
We have produced a range of forms, including our Student Leave of Absence and Student Support Application forms, that compliment our policies and the wider curriculum. These can be downloaded below.
Should you need any advice when filling out these forms or you require a hard copy please contact us.
Bursary
The College will administer the discretionary 16-19 Bursary. If you or your parent/carers are in receipt of benefits, it is important that you apply for Student Support, as you may be eligible for free meals and a clothing allowance. In addition, you may be eligible to apply for financial support with Educational Visits.
If you are not in receipt of benefits please write to the Heads PA with as much information as possible including the support you require and the reason and this will be considered on an individual basis.
