Last week our Post 16 students were lucky enough to meet with four of Landau’s ex-students who are Performing Arts practitioners currently working in the Performing Arts Industry.
Simon Smith who is a musician, singer songwriter and has recently co-written two songs on the New Britney Spears album in LA as well as releasing his own album. He also performs all over the world!
Julie Chilvers, a freelance dance artist currently based up in Edinburgh creating and performing in contemporary dance pieces, alongside creating dance for and in the community setting.
Adam Horvath who is a professional actor based in Derby who works all over the country – he was the first recipient of The Brian Weaver Fellowship at Derby Theatre and is making a name for himself.
Michael Harris-Wakelam the Theatre Manager at Melton Theatre in Leicester, who knows all there is to know about managing both the Theatre space and the people in it!
This was predominantly as research for their Unit 2: Professional Practice but also gave them an insight into working in the Creative Industries. Hopefully the expertise of our ex-students has inspired our current students to aim high and prove to them that anything is possible – the Creative Industries is thriving in the UK, even in the current economic climate!
