On Tuesday 13th March, Mrs Kenworthy and six Year 8 students visited Allestree Woodlands School to take part in a heat of the IET Faraday Challenge – a demanding engineering-based competition.
The Faraday Challenge is an exciting initiative by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) which aims to encourage more young people to consider a career in engineering. Schools up and down the country have been taking part in this year’s challenge days which are run by STEM subject (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) professionals.
During the day, teams race against the clock to solve a real-life engineering problem, putting their technology and engineering skills to the test. This year, the students were tasked with building an attraction for Thorpe Park, which had to include an electronic element.
