To commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day, Year 9 and 10 students participated in a webinar delivered by the Shared Histories Project. Shared Hsitories is an engaging and interactive educational project aimed at highlighting the sacrifices made by African Caribbean and South Asian soldiers during World War II. The aims of the programme are to highlight the contribution of Britain’s BAME communities in defence of Britain, to improve race relations across society, to challenge negative stereotypes and hate narratives including anti-Semitism and Islamophobia and to garner a sense of identity and citizenship within young people. Our students found the webinar thought provoking, challenging and inspiring. Thanks to Derby City Council for giving us the opportunity to participate.
