Good morning,
I wanted to write to you to thank you and your children for a great return to school. It is a real pleasure to have all our students back in the classroom; the school is full of energy and excitement and our students are really engaged with their learning.
We are incredibly pleased with how smoothly the start of the new academic year has gone. All our year groups have settled in very well and have really impressed us, and it has been such a pleasure to welcome our new Year 7 and Year 12 students to the school.
Summer examination results
We were absolutely delighted with the GCSE, A level, and Btec results received by our students in August. Despite what was another incredibly challenging year in education our young people and staff have absolutely risen to the challenge and our students received the results that they very much deserved. We are incredibly proud of our ex Year 11 and Year 13 students. Our Year 13 students have gone on to many exciting destinations, including universities such as Cambridge, Oxford, Durham, Manchester, Imperial College London and Warwick. Several students also gained Degree apprenticeships with Rolls Royce.
After school Enrichment Timetable
Please find attached our Enrichment Timetable for this term, please have a look at this with your child and encourage them to attend as many events as possible. Enrichment will run from 3.25pm – 4.25pm.
Key dates for this academic year
Please find attached a calendar of key dates for this academic year.
Parents’ Evenings
At present, we will continue to hold Parents’ Evenings online, via School Cloud. Thank you for the positive feedback we have received about this method of delivering Parents’ Evenings. We know how valuable parents and students find direct feedback from subject teachers.
Parking at College/ on Fox Street
Parking at the start and end of the day remains a real concern. If you collect or drop off your child in a car from Fox Street please observe the parking restrictions and road safety. Unfortunately we have still had parents regularly parking on double yellow lines on both sides of the road which means the road quickly becomes gridlocked. This means that students who wish to cross Fox Street have to walk out into the road between parked cars, with limited visibility, which places them at real and unnecessary risk. We appreciate that there is limited space while dropping off/waiting for your sons and daughters but we would ask that, if possible, you car share with other families or make arrangements to drop off or meet your child on an adjacent street. Particularly if your child is in Year 8 or above we would ask that you please do consider dropping them off/collecting them from an adjacent street. It is vital that we keep Fox Street and the College driveway safe for our students and we will continue to work with Derby City Council Highways Team and the Police to find a solution to this problem.

Chicken Pox, Measles and Shingles
Several of our students are receiving medical treatment for illnesses that put them at risk of becoming very unwell if they are exposed to measles, chicken pox, and shingles. If they are exposed to these illnesses they will need to be given treatment as soon as possible. If your child is suspected of having chicken pox/ measles/ shingles please let us know immediately – they will not be at any risk from this situation. However, the health and wellbeing of our students who are at risk does depend of the cooperation of all other parents and carers, and we ask for your help in this. Should you have any concerns or queries, please contact the Office Manager, Mrs Williams, on 01332 204040 or [email protected]
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Kindest regards,
Alison Brannick
