Good morning everyone,
I am delighted at how well the new term has started and I wanted to write to thank you for your support, and to share some important information with you:
Golden ticket launch
We have recently launched a new reward initiative: the Golden Ticket. Golden tickets are instant and spontaneous rewards which staff award to students for any behaviour they feel is worthy of recognition. This could be brilliant school work, kindness to others, or representing their school with pride. The golden tickets are worth five house points each and the students with the most golden tickets are invited to the Principal’s Pizza Party, as well as entered into a prize draw. Please do ask your child about the initiative and if they have received a golden ticket yet.
Parent survey
We value feedback from all in the Landau community and we are constantly striving to better ourselves. Now Parents’ Evenings have moved online we have fewer opportunities to collect feedback from our parents and carers, so we are therefore launching an online survey to capture your feedback. We would be really grateful if you could complete the survey, which you can access via the link below: https://landau-forte.org.uk/parents-survey-november-2021/
The survey will remain open until Friday 10 December.
Covid 19 update – support with face coverings
Currently, rates of Covid 19 remain low across the school, however we are well aware that this situation is fluid and can change very quickly. Please ensure your child brings a reusable face covering to school each day as the wearing of face coverings in communal areas around the school is supporting in keeping the incidents of Covid 19 low. We are currently providing students who arrive in school without a face covering a free single use face covering; this is at significant cost to the school and creates a significant amount of unnecessary waste. We would really appreciate it if you would support the school in ensuring that your child has a reusable face covering with them each day.
Uniform and outdoor coats
As the days become colder we would ask for your support in ensuring your child brings a suitable outdoor coat to school. During break and lunchtime students need to be outside and it is important that they have a warm coat with them. In addition, we continue to check uniform on a daily basis and students should be proud to wear their Landau uniform, including wearing their lanyards at all times. Students can wear a plain black jumper but this must be worn under their blazer. Students who are persistently not wearing their uniform correctly will be placed in whole school catch up.
Winter Fair
Please do pop along to our Winter Fair on Saturday 4 December, 11.00am until 4.00pm. Students, staff and their families are all welcome at the Winter Fair, with food and drink options provided by local businesses as well as having the chance to shop for festive presents. The Fair is also open to the general public who are welcome to come and join in the festive fun. Entry is free of charge and tickets are not required.
Christmas Lunch
Christmas Lunch will be served in the Restaurant by the Executive Team on Thursday, 16 December and will cost £2.40.
Last day of term – Friday 17 December
The last day of term will be a non-uniform day for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/ The day will be organised by our Year 13 BTEC Business Studies students. Students and staff can pay £1, via cash or Parent Pay, to wear non uniform and there will be lots of fun activities taking place.
On Friday 17 December the school will close for the Christmas break at 1.30pm and reopen on at 8.20am on Tuesday 4 January.
When the end of term break arrives, we wish all our families a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Kind regards,
Alison Brannick
