We celebrated World Book Day this year with various activities:
Year 7 students participated in a virtual author talk with historical writer, Emma Carroll. Emma talked about her most recent book, The week at world’s end, and about her experience as a writer. Emma introduced students to some of the historical events behind her most recent novel and we also gained an insight into her life as a writer including a sneaky peek around her study and even meeting her two writing companions, her Jack Russell’s.
We have hosted a College-wide World Book Day competition, inviting students to design their own book cover. Three winners will be chosen, with prizes of Amazon vouchers up for grabs!
World Book Day vouchers have been distributed to year 7 and year 8 students. These vouchers can be redeemed against this year’s World Book Day titles or can be redeemed against another book of your choice. The vouchers can be used at any participating bookshops and supermarkets, including Tesco, WH Smith and Waterstones.
Some staff also enjoyed dressing up as popular book characters.
We look forward to next year’s World Book Day celebrations! Happy reading!
