Good afternoon,
This year, to spread some Christmas cheer, our students have decided to collect donations for two local charities.
Firstly, we are supporting the Hope Centre’s food bank appeal. The Hope Centre, supported our families during the Covid 19 pandemic and we are keen to support them over the Christmas period.
We are collecting the following:
- Cans of meat/ vegetables/ fruit/ beans/ spaghetti
- Bags of pasta and rice
- Jars of pasta sauce
- Biscuits, Weetabix and cereal
We are also supporting the Ark Animal Rescue Centre in Ashbourne. The Ark operates as a rescue and rehoming centre for unwanted cats and dogs. We are collecting donations of dog and cat food/biscuits and toys for the residents of the Ark Centre.
If you feel you are able to donate any items, they can be placed in the donation boxes underneath the Christmas tree in reception. We are collecting items up until the last day of term. All donations will be very gratefully received by both local charities.
Holiday activity fund
Derby City Council is running a winter Holiday Activity Fund. Families who are in receipt of free school meals can sign up for a wide range of activities that are taking place over the winter break, a healthy and nutritious meal is also available to young people who participate in the activities.
Families can sign up for the activities here: Derby Holiday Activity and Food Programme – Derby City Council
Food bank support
The cost of living crisis is making life difficult for many of our families. If you need support with food parcels please contact Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance on 01332 346266 and they will be able to support you with emergency food parcels.
Thank you for your ongoing support. As mentioned in previous communications, the school will close for the winter break on Tuesday 20 December at 2.45pm. We wish all our families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Kind regards,
Alison Brannick
