As part of the weekly Non-Qualification Activities which all sixth form students engage in throughout the academic year, the College recently welcomed back nine former students to our Alumni Event to speak with all our current Year 13 students. The event was designed to better inform our current students on the many challenges and opportunities involved in the transition to higher education, with alumni drawn from a wide range of universities and courses, with a number also having completed gap years and Masters degrees. The event involved a carousel with our students first chatting to each alumni in small groups and then having the opportunity to ask specific individual questions afterwards. The event was warmly received by both current students and alumni alike. One student commented that ”All the alumni were really nice and helpful, it definitely put a new perspective on university for me”, another stated “The alumni were very kind and insightful about university life and their courses. I found it most useful talking to the students who do the same/similar courses to what I want to do” whilst another said “Some of the alumni offered advice on their tips to succeed at sixth form – which I have taken on board and have greatly appreciated”. We were delighted with both the impact of this event on our current students and in being able to catch up again with so many of our former students, who we remain so very proud of!
