Following on from last year’s successful ‘Ready Steady Cook!’ sessions, part of the sixth form’s extensive non-qualification activities, we started this year with 9 teams of students from both Year 12 and 13. The remit was to make a dessert of their choice using the ingredients available, which included eggs, milk, jam, golden syrup and apples. All the groups were also given some flour, sugar and butter. They had 50 minutes to plan their recipe, cook it and wash up before presenting it to an esteemed group of judges led by head judge Mr Andrews! All agreed it was a great success, with some very impressive dishes produced; the efforts of all were brilliant, particularly by some who had never cooked before! The winners were Emily Mason, Hannah Mitchell and Deven Walters.
