On Thursday, 25 August staff and students at LFCD celebrated an amazing set of GCSE examination results, the first since 2019. In 2020 and 2021, students’ GCSE grades were decided by teacher assessment. This year exams returned with students demonstrating what they know and understand in the exam hall.
To support the Year 11 students, staff at the College laid on additional support for students, including providing additional lessons for students after school in all subjects, employing additional tutors one day a week in English and Maths, a February holiday school and employing a creative therapist to support students’ wellbeing.
All these efforts paid off, with students securing some brilliant results, including:
- Amber Banks – seven grade 9s, three grade 8s
- Isla Sparks – seven grade 9s, three grade 8s
- Arun Shanker – three grade 9s, seven grade 8s
- Jasmine Dhnota – seven grade 9s, two grade 8s, one Dist*
- Iman Hussain – seven grade 9s, one grade 8, one grade 7
- Erin Bishop – five grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s
- Erin Pickard – six grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7
Alison Brannick, Principal, said:
“I am so proud of all our students. They have worked incredibly hard throughout their time at school, despite the adversity they have faced over the past couple of years.
It is a real privilege to be part of this community and our student’s remarkable GCSE results show their hard work has paid off. Well done to them all.”
