Year 12 Survey

Year 12,

In order that we may reflect and seek to improve what we offer sixth form students next year and beyond, we would be very grateful if you would complete the following short survey.

Many thanks!

DrD and the Sixth Form Team.

This year, we have hosted a number of ‘Non-Qualification Activities’, mainly on Wednesday afternoons. These have included presentations from various universities and apprenticeship providers, alumni, quizzes, a creativity task, input on forced marriage/honour based abuse, religion and ethics, The Ted Baker Diploma, the Lessons in Hate workshops, and Ready Steady Cook events.

As you are aware, there has been a whole-college focus this year on Oracy, (defined as the ability to articulate one’s ideas/opinions and engage with others through spoken language). In particular, we have discussed the three Vs – Vocab, Volume and Validity. In Sixth Form, you have specifically taken part in Miss Clapp’s Wednesday afternoon session in the Theatre, the Oracy Extension/Debate sessions with Mr Hutchinson, two series of subject Vivas, regular tutor time discussions and the recent Religious Affairs/medical ethics workshops with Mr Butler and Mr Mahalski.

Year 12 recently visited Nottingham University, part of the Russell Group, to explore higher education first hand.

Question 3 - Did you find this experience useful?
Question 4 - Was the visit to Nottingham University your first experience of visiting a university open day?
Question 5 - Did this visit make you more likely to apply to a university?

Recently a number of you attended a presentation by former student Jaya Jaspal about a career in law.

Question 6 (Please answer only if you attended this presentation) – Did you find Jaya’s presentation useful?

Recently a number of you attended a presentation by a representative of Newcastle University about Humanities Degrees.

Question 7 (Please answer only if you attended this presentation) – Did you find this presentation useful?

On Monday, you participated in First Aid Training.

Question 8 As a result of this training, would you feel more confident about helping someone in medical need, compared to how you felt before?

Earlier this week, you also participated in an introduction to British Sign Language (BSL).

Question 9 Did you enjoy the introduction to BSL?
Question 10 Would you be interested in further developing your ability to communicate using BSL at some point in the future?

Today, you have sat a mock, one-to-one interview with a local employer.

Question 11 Do you consider the interview to have been a positive experience (eg: you would feel more confident about being interviewed in the future or you feel you have gained some useful tips etc)?
This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.
